CQC Environmental Product Certification
The Environmental Product Certification has been practiced widely in the world since the end of 1970's of 20 century. At present, there are about 50 kinds of different environmental product certification in the world and most of them are the voluntary certification. Since the place of the environmental product certification is more and more importance in the international trade, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) issued three standards on environmental labels and declarations in the 1998 and 1999, which are: ISO14020 Environmental management Environmental labels and declarations General principles, ISO14021 Environmental management Environmental labels and declarations Self-declared environmental claims (Type II environmental labeling) and ISO14024 Environmental management Environmental labels and declarations Type I environmental labeling Principles and procedures.
Chinese government pays much attention to the work of Environmental Product Certification and transformed identically the above three standards into China national standards in the years of 2000 and 2001. CQC undertook the main work during transforming and drawing up the three standards. Based on the experience of the Product Safety Certification and Management System Certification, CQC formally launched Environmental Product (ISO14024 Certification) Certification in 2000 to enhance the environment consciousness of consumers, manufacturers and suppliers and guide them to the green consumption.
Environmental Product Certification is independent and voluntary. With the form of sticking environmental label, CQC clearly informs the consumers what kinds of products not only are qualified but also conform with the special environment requirements for each life cycle stage of the product (extraction, production, distribution, use and disposal). Compared with the similar products, the products with CQC's environmental label have prominent environmental priority of lower toxic, less harm, reduced resource use and more environmental friendly.
